Hi Grace,

It's hard work! There's no getting around that. However if a couple can make it through this they can be stronger than they ever were.

I appreciate your comment and feedback.

Hi Lisa,

Questions a good friend faced only last summer having been in this predicament. Through very slow progress (and no end of hurt) they seem to making a good go of it now. Counselling no doubt helps any couple in such a situation so I will keep you in mind for any readers of my blog who face such difficulties as you clearly have the expertize to deal with such situations.

Thanks and love reading the blog

Thank you Lisa!

I'm studying in child psychotherapy, I love the way in which you clarify a lot in a coherent unbaffling way.

I also support mothers to breast feed, and I find it encouraging to combine the possitve brain development, with it's affect's in later deveolpment. Frustratingly, the information thrown at new breast feeding mothers usually focuses on nutrition and the physical benefits; giving lesser value to emotional health and well-being. Both are equally important.

I'll continue to remain posted....

Sally,

Yes you can make up a safe place! Imagine in your minds eye a place that represents calm and serenity. Many people find nature soothing but it doesn't have to be. It's truly your creation.

What if you don't have a safe place you can conjure up? Can you make one up? I realized this when I tried this and could think of nowhere I was safe, which made the stress worse.
Any other way to release oxytocin? Thank you.

[...] 5 Tips for a Healthy Relationship | The Toolbox at LisaKiftTherapy.com I’ve written a lot about healthy relationships and what aspects successful couples have that make them unique. As I continue my couples therapy work I continue to gather more information about relationships, the importance of good couples communication, their most significant sticking points – and what brings them together. Here are my top 5 relationship tips for having and maintaining a healthy relationship: 1) Learn to Communication Effectively : This is probably the most important tip of them all because without good couples communication, the rest can go “south” pretty quickly.
Hi Lisa, Many thanks for your kind reply to my message. I will go and have a look at your link when I have got more time and also I will look on Amazon for the books you mention. Therapy is unfortunately not a viable option right now. Many thanks again. Shirl x
